Overview
Per-property formatting lets you control exactly how each data property looks across your dashboards and reports — in Studio, Designer, and Quantum. You can set number formats, add prefixes or suffixes, and define conditional rules that automatically change how a value appears based on its content. Once configured, your formatting choices apply consistently everywhere that property is displayed, so your data always looks the way you intend.
How to use
- Open the formatting panel. In Studio, open the Designer and select the component you want to format. In Quantum, select a node or link component on your canvas. In Designer, select a model node or link to view its attributes in the resource panel, then hover over any attribute row — a palette icon appears. Click the row to open the formatting panel as a persistent side panel alongside the canvas. Look for the Formatting or Properties panel on the right-hand side.
- Select a property to format. From the list of available properties, click the one you want to configure. Each property has its own independent formatting settings.
- Set a number format. Choose how numeric values should be displayed — for example, as a whole number, decimal, percentage, or with thousands separators. You can also set a base format for dates, and configure default appearance settings such as color, alignment, and icon.
- Add a prefix or suffix. Type any text you want to appear before or after the value, such as a currency symbol ($) or a unit label (kg, days).
- Add conditional formatting rules (optional). Click Add Rule to define conditions — for example, highlight values above a threshold in red, or show low stock quantities in bold. Set the condition and choose the display style, including per-rule colors, bold, italic, underline, or icon overrides using the grouped company-theme color picker, then save the rule.
- Preview and save. Check the preview to confirm the formatting looks correct, then save your changes. The formatting will apply automatically wherever that property appears across your widgets and components. In Designer, you can click another attribute row to re-scope the panel to a different attribute, or save and promote the model through Composer as normal — formatting travels with it automatically.

Good to know
- Formatting is per-property, not per-widget. Once you format a property, that formatting carries through to every component displaying it — charts, metric cards, maps, heatmaps, and list components all pick up these formats automatically at runtime. You do not need to repeat the setup in each widget individually.
- Conditional rules are evaluated in order. If a value matches more than one rule, the first matching rule in the list takes effect. Drag rules to reorder them if needed.
- Prefixes and suffixes are display-only. They change how a value looks but do not affect the underlying data or any calculations.
- Studio, Designer, and Quantum are all supported. Formatting set in one environment is consistent with the others, so your data presentation stays uniform across the platform. Formatting configured in Designer persists through Composer promotions automatically — no extra steps required.
- Saved formatting is easy to spot in Designer. An attribute row displays a small dot when formatting has already been saved, so you can see at a glance which attributes are already styled.
